Quicksilver – Hidalgo Cemetery Hike

Despite mostly overcast skies, it was nice to get outdoors on a weekend. We decided to hike in Almaden Quicksilver County Park, this time from the Mockingbird Hill entrance. The parking lot at that entrance has tons of parking, by the way 🙂 This park has over 34 miles of trails, so there are lots of options, from short to quite long.

We started on Hacienda Trail, and then proceeded to take Capehorn Pass Trail->Mine Hill Rd->Castillero Trail->Hidalgo Cemetery Trail. There we took a few minutes to look at the cemetery area and its battered fence.

After that,we continued on the Castillero Trail->Mine Hill Rd->April Trail->Great Eastern Trail->Day Tunnel Trail->Randol Trail->Buena Vista Trail->New Almaden Trail, and then that took us back to the trailhead. It was a total of 8.4 miles and around 1800ft of elevation gain.
