Post-Thanksgiving Montara hike

The day after Thanksgiving is always the perfect day for a challenging/semi challenging hike. We decided on Montara Mountain, located in McNee Ranch State Park. The all-uphill way up is a good climb and the views of Pacifica and the Pacific coastline are worth it!

This hike was 8 miles and 1800ft of elevation. We parked in the large lot (mentioned at bahiker.com) which almost always has plenty of parking at any time of day. We enjoyed the views from the top and were glad to have our hiking poles for the steeper sections of the trek back downhill.

Recommended gear for this hike: an extra layer or two, as it can get quite cold and windy at and around the top! Afterwards, we stopped at Half Moon Bay Coffee Company for tea. They have good pie too – yum.
